For over 12 years Dr. Bendell has been promoting and supporting responsible business as a consultant, academic and entrepreneur. An Associate Professor of Management at Griffith BusinessSchool in Australia, Dr. Bendell is a leading international commentator on corporate responsibility, with over 50 publications on this subject, including two books, a column and four United Nations reports. He has helped create a number of innovative responsible enterprise initiatives, such as the Marine Stewardship Council, and his work has been credited with inspiring the formation of the UN Global Compact, the world's largest corporate responsibility initiative. As a director of the progressive professional services firm, Lifeworth (www.lifeworth.com), he has worked with corporations, NGOs and United Nations agencies on corporate responsibility issues in over a dozen countries. Lifeworth provides advisory, research and training on strategy, policy and program development for responsible enterprise, as well as publishing an annual review of trends in corporate responsibility and an online career center for professionals interested in this field. In 2006, Dr. Bendell developed the work of WWF-UK, the world's largest environmental organization, on the social and environmental performance of luxury brands. He researched and co-wrote the subsequent report, Deeper Luxury:Quality and Style When the World Matters (www.deeperluxury.com),which appeared in over 50newspapers worldwide at the end of2007. He went on to found the Authentic Luxury Network which brings together luxury executives, designers, entrepreneurs, marketers and analysts to promote a sustainable future for luxury goods and services (www.authenticluxury.net). He has also advised and helped implement a strategic realignment of a major Australian business school with 13000 students and 300 faculty members to become a sustainability leader, and establish an Asia Pacific centre of excellence. He previously developed one of the first multi-enterprise supply chain eco-audit systems. Dr Bendell joins GVI due to his work as a consultant with the UN system since 1996, designing and hosting events on UN revitalisation in the early Noughties, and his ongoing focus on purpose at work. |
